Through an announcement on its website on February 18, 2016, the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications made public its intention to release an auction of spectrum for 4G services in the country at the end of the year 2016. The auctioned spectrum will be allocated in the 700 MHz band, the decision is based on a hearing that the ministry had with the telecommunications operators on February 2, 2016.
