The initial “Blue Guide” was published in 2000 and since then, it has become one of the main reference documents explaining how to implement the EU product rules and it also helps businesses and national inspectors apply these rules.
Now the EU has started the preparation for a new update of the Blue Guide to reflect the EU legislation and particular regulation (EU) 2019/1020 on market surveillance, it will also include any relevant changes at the international level and it will cover the digital age and the circular economy.
The goal is not to re-write the Blue Guide completely but to address any issues that may have come up due to new developments or items that will be worth developing further due to needed additional clarification.
