On May 9, 2017, the European Commission published the Implementing Decision draft which will repeal Decision 2006/804/EC and replace the technical annex with an updated version due to the rapid changes in technology and the continuous increase of new short-range applications.
This new updated version will:
-Increase the number of harmonized frequency bands that can be used by short-range devices
-Updated substance of Decision 2006/804/EC on harmonization of the radio spectrum for RFID devices operating in ultra-high frequency (UHF) band.
-Improved definitions for increased clarity and minor technical parameters changes.
The proposed date of entry into force will be November 1, 2017. The final date for comments is July, 8, 2017.
