Following the Digital Single Market Strategy, the European Commission, which is the driving force in proposing legislation to the parlament and the council, will start a complete review of the telecom regulatory framework, trying to expand fixed and wireless connectivity and to build a single body of rules to all the EU states. In order to achieve these objectives and create a new regulatory framework, the commission will evaluate first the Regulatory Fitness and Performance Programme (REFIT), then will receive data from national regulators about the application of the current framework. They will open a public consultation for 12 weeks in September. Finally the commission will open a round of meetings with all the interested parties in the regulation to take in account their points of view.
