EUROPEAN UNION: Defined Requirements for Radio Equipment and Repealed Directive 1999/5/EC

Back

The European Union in their latest Notification, EU/589, published the supplementing Directive 2014/53/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council in order to properly define essential requirements for radio equipment construction (Article 3). From now onwards, “access to emergency services” is one of the features that should be present in these type of equipment. They have also announced the replacement of Directive 1999/5/EC since it has undergone many changes and therefore felt it was better to replace in order to improve clarity.
