EUROPEAN UNION: Decision Implemented on The Harmonized Use of Radio Spectrum in The 5 GHz Frequency Band

Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/179 on the harmonized use of radio spectrum in the 5 GHz frequency band for the implementation of wireless access systems including radio local area networks and repealing Decision 2005/513/EC.

This Decision harmonizes the conditions for the availability and efficient use of the 5150 – 5250 MHz, 5250 – 5350 MHz, and 5470 – 5725 MHz frequency bands for wireless access systems including radio local area networks (WAS/RLANs).

By 31 March 2022, Member States shall designate and make available the 5150 – 5250 MHz, 5250 – 5350 MHz, and 5470 – 5725 MHz frequency bands, on a non-exclusive basis, for the implementation of WAS/RLANs in accordance with the technical conditions set out in the Annex.

The Member States shall monitor the evolution of standards and technology in relation to the use of the frequency bands stated above and report their findings to the Commission at the latter’s request or on their own initiative in order to allow for a timely review of this Decision
