EU: Delegated Regulation supplementing of Directive 2014/53/EU regard to the application of the essential requirements

On July 23rd, 2021, the European Commission published the “Draft Commission Delegated Regulation supplementing of Directive 2014/53/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to the application of the essential requirements for radio equipment referred to in Article 3(3), points (d), (e) and (f), of that Directive.”

The objective of this draft Commission Delegated regulation is to ensure that certain categories of radio equipment, when placed on the EU market:
1. Does not harm the network or its functioning nor misuse network resources, thereby causing an unacceptable degradation of service.
2. Incorporates safeguards to ensure that the personal data and privacy of the user and of the subscriber are protected.

The commission is accepting comments until September 21th, 2021 via email grow-eu-tbt@ec.europa.eu and the expected timeline for publication is October 2021.
