On May 5, 2016, the Salvadorian Legislative Assembly approved a statement of reforms presented by the General Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET). The draft was constructed by the SIGET with the help of the different radio and TV actors, and its purpose is to reform the Telecommunications Law following the development of the technologies in the country. One of the most important reforms is the inclusion of new mechanisms to award concessions of frequency for radio and TV, including the direct allocation and the contest in the alternatives. It is also important to note that the homologation process for low power devices remains the same.
