EGYPT: Removal of Bandwidth Restrictions for Indoor WLAN Frequencies

Back

The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) published ‘Regulations for use of Wireless Devices which states WLAN 802.11ac devices can now be approved and used in Egypt. In addition, NTRA confirmed bandwidth restrictions for indoor WLAN frequencies, which have been removed.

The Frequency band 5.470-5.725 GHz isn’t allowed for the commercial use (no change from previous regulation).

For the frequency band 5.725 – 5.850 GHz, WLAN devices must require a customized firmware version from the manufacturer/supplier to be applied to the end user equipment and also prevent the end user from reconfiguration. From this regulation, this frequency will be for outdoor use only and therefore end user will require apE.
