On November 22, 2017, The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) in a recent announcement via the official INDOTEL website, announced they have adopted a series of controls on commercial mobile device imports with an objective to “safeguard the rights of users of final telecommunications services.” In addition, entry of any cellular or mobile telecommunication equipment in the Dominican Republic will require a letter of No Objection and a corresponding Certificate of Approvals; it will also be necessary to indicate all equipment IMEIS looking to enter the country.
