On Thursday, May 11, 2017, The Communications Regulatory Commission (CRC) of Colombia notified the public that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT) certification standard is not comparable to the homologation standard that is currently in force in Colombia.
“Despite the efforts made by the CRC, it has not been possible to establish that the CMIIT certification standard is comparable to the homologation standard in force in Colombia and, therefore, the mobile terminal equipment that only counts with this certificate CMIIT cannot be approved to operate in Colombia and will be blocked.”
You can however use the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a reference for approval.
“The CRC adopted the FCC ID certification code, issued by the FCC, and industry regulator in the United States, as a reference for approval.” “When an applicant for the approval process does not have an FCC ID code, he must prove in writing the equivalence between the code that his cell phone has and the one of the standard adopted in Colombia.”
