The following are the most current changes in the Colombian laws for the homologation of telecom devices (Resolution 4507 – 2014 which modifies the Resolution CRC087 of 1997) effective same day of publication, Date: Pending end of 2014.
The principal change is that all the devices operating in the GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 bands will be considered as mobile terminal equipments and the homologation should follow the equipment homologation laws, both for voice and data use.
In the cases that the homologated terminals are subject to structural technical modifications that do not alter their operation, network interaction and the radio electrical spectrum continues meeting the rules under it was originally homologated, it will be required to obtain a modification by the CRC. In the case that the changes alter their operation, network interaction or spectral features, it will require a new homologation.
This new law does not affect the devices that have received a clearance letter before date: Pending end of 2014 (Date from which it is applicable) and can continue being commercialized. There are no specific label requirements.
