October 2016: The Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MINTIC), through its Commission for the Regulation of Communications (CRC), published on the official gazette Resolution 5031 of 2016 which modifies the chapter I of the title XIII of the CRT 087 found in the 1997 Resolution. The Resolution establishes that all terminal equipment operating in the 850MHz, 1900 MHz, 1700/2100MHz and 2500MHz, providing voice and/or data services, has to be type approved by the commission. It is important to note that the process could be carried out by companies or individuals wishing to bring devices to Colombia, which reinforces CRC’s commitment to approve this type of equipment before coming into the country. This new homologation process will come into force on January 7, 2017.
