China – SRRC – IPv6 test requirement and test method – No 174, 2023

Oct 13th, 2023, MIIT issued a notice about the IPv6 test of WLAN devices in order to obtain SRRC approval, the summary is as follows:

1. Wireless LAN devices with public IP address allocation functions that are produced or imported for sale and use in China should support the IPv6 protocol, and must apply for the type approval following the radio regulations.

2. Wireless LAN devices should support and enable the IPv6 address allocation function by default, while retaining the option for users to configure the IPv6 address allocation function themselves, and specifying the IPv6 configuration method in the product description.

3. The testing agency responsible for WLAN model approval testing shall have the IPv6 testing capabilities in accordance with the technical requirements and testing methods listed in the notice. 

4. This notice shall come into effect from Dec 1st, 2023. Wireless LAN devices produced or imported before this can continue to be sold and used until it is scrapped.
