China: MITT issued Interim Regulations on Radio Management of UWB Equipment.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has published the notice No. [2024] No. 77 with the new interim regulations for Ultra-Wideband (UWB) equipment in China. 

The key points of this regulation are:

• UWB equipment must comply with new technical requirements and be approved by the national radio regulatory agency.

• No radio station license is required for UWB equipment installation and use.

• UWB use cannot interfere with other legal radio stations and must stop operation if interference occurs.

• UWB equipment is prohibited within 1 km of radio astronomy observatories and on aircraft (including drones).

• The operating frequency is 7163-8812MHz, with transmit signal bandwidth (-10dB bandwidth) no less than 500MHz, and EIRP spectral density no greater than -41dBm/MHz

The regulations come into effect on August 1, 2025. Existing UWB equipment with type approval can continue to be sold and used until discarded.
