CHINA: MIIT Announces Action Plan to Promote Scale Deployment of IPv6

Entirety reports on November 30, 2018, an Action Plan for Promoting the Scale Deployment of the Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) issued by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council on November 26, 2017.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China(MIIT) announcement recently the following:

All network products used in China mainland, including mobile phones, terminals, switches, fax machines, video conferencing and so on, should support IPv6 as long as they support IP protocol. After Dec. 01, 2018, the network products which get NAL/MII approval must need support IPv6. Network operators also require terminals to support both IPv4 and IPv6 from Oct. 01, 2018.

For the devices(without IPv6) which already get NAL/MII approval before Dec. 01, 2018 and the certificates are still invalid, the customer can update to IPv6 via software by themselves after certificates become invalid, the customer can make new NAL/MII application to add IPv6. 

Please keep in mind that the IPv6 is part of the test in Network Approval License (NAL).
