CHILE: SUBTEL Releases Multiband Stamp Regulation for Mobile Devices Sold in Chile

Back

On March 13, 2017, SUBTEL (Subsecretaria de Telecomunicaciones) implemented a Multiband regulation in order to further protect users through mandatory information. Mobile devices sold in Chile will now require a stamp showing their technical characteristics. The stamp must indicate what technology has to operate in the 2G, 3G and 4G networks. “From now on, telephone users have certainties regarding the compatibility of the phone they plan to buy and, at the same time, it facilitates their decision making when it comes to company, without jeopardizing the quality of the service to which they choose,” said the head of SUBTEL.
