Subtel has issued Resolution N° 2.219 (published November 24, 2025) as a key amendment to the comprehensive SRD regulatory framework introduced by Resolution N° 737.
The Redefined Regulatory Framework
The complete structure governing SRDs in Chile is now composed of three main resolutions:
- Resolution N° 1985: Continues to define the full framework for Short Range Devices, including frequency band allocation for various applications and power limits.
- Resolution N° 737: Redefined the certification process, shifting the requirement toward a Self-Declaration of Conformity. This declaration must be published on a website, accessible via a QR code implemented on the product’s packaging.
- Resolution N° 2219: Was introduced in response to industry feedback regarding compliance difficulties. It focuses on facilitating the QR code reading and clarifying the deferred regulatory text. Crucially, it grants flexibility regarding the actual implementation of the QR code and the content of the linked website, as well as important clarifications on handling confidential information
Key Operational Flexibility Granted by Resolution N° 2.219
This new resolution provides critical flexibility for the mandatory QR Code verification system, specifically addressing alternatives for QR code placement and the management of technical information for products already certified.
- QR Code Placement Alternatives: If placing the QR code on the exterior packaging is not practical, the resolution now allows it to be placed directly on the equipment or included in the paper documentation (e.g., the manual or warranty) delivered with the product.
- Transition Period for Legacy Products: Equipment for which a Certificate of Certification was requested before the February 22, 2026, deadline only needs to publish their existing certification via the QR Code hyperlink.
Key Elements Remaining Unchanged:
- Transition Deadline: The target date for the transition remains February 22, 2026, as originally established in Resolution N° 737.
- Certifications: SUBTEL will continue to issue certifications only for medical-related equipment. Certificates for other devices cannot be requested even on a voluntary basis.
- Documentation and Information: The requirements regarding the website, the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) format, and commercial information will stay the same as previously defined in Resolution N° 737.
- Other Technical Requirements related to operation in frequency bands.
