On August 4th, Canada’s Telecom Regulator ISED published a consultation on a technical policy and licensing framework for the auction of spectrum in the band 614-698 MHz. This is contained in the Gazette Notice SLPB-005-17. Through this consultation, the Government is proposing measures to support competition and encourage investment in wireless services. The deployment of 600 MHz band will contribute to the strengthening of Canada’s world-leading wireless infrastructure. Interested parties – including telecoms providers, consumer groups and the general public – have until October 2, 2017 to comment on the proposal.
