On March 15, 2018, the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of British Virgin Islands published the draft of the National Frequency Allocation Table (NFAT) 2018, in accordance to the objectives of the Spectrum Policy for the Virgin Islands as established by the Commission in May 2011.
Among the main objectives that the update of the (NFAT) has, there are to meet international standards of the ITU, to comply with national security plans, and to promote an efficient use of the spectrum for economic and social growth. The structure of the National Frequencies Plan is composed by 5 columns that contain information regarding frequency bands, details of the allocations to radiocommunication services applicable by the ITU and also in Virgin Islands, and other relevant information.
This NFP is expected to be implemented promptly by the authority, in order to comply by all the stakeholders involved such as importers and manufacturers of radiocommunications equipment.
