Anatel overcame the mark of one million telecommunications products inspected and identified as non-certified, seized in one year.
The main products retained by Anatel and the Federal Revenue of Brazil were cell phone chargers, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices and Android box. The list of inspected products also includes batteries, metallic cables, data network equipment, optical equipment, signal blockers, signal boosters, among others.
The certification of Anatel’s approval is necessary for certain telecommunications products to be marketed in the country. The approval guarantees the consumer that the quality and safety of equipment obtained in accordance with the Brazilian regulation. When purchasing a non-approved telecommunication product, the consumer has no guarantee of technical assistance in case of defect or guarantee that that equipment will not cause a domestic accident.
Some retained products can be regularized and returned to the domestic market, as long as they are complied with in the certification and approval processes and are not related to content piracy or stamp forgery.
