Anatel has published the Official Letter 112/2021/ORCN/SOR-ANATEL regarding SAR tests below 300MHz. Anatel published, on March 12, 2021, Act nº 1630 regarding the update of the Test Procedures for Assessment of the Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) of Telecommunications Products. The testing procedures for SAR assessment previously in force, approved by Act No. 955, of February 8, 2018, established that certification tests should be carried out on equipment operating between 300 MHz and 6 GHz while the new Act establishes that the tests are performed on equipment operating between 4 MHz and 6 GHz. Since the new testing procedures were recently published, the testing laboratories authorized by Anatel informed the Agency that they are still in the process of training and acquiring equipment to carry out the SAR tests applicable to portable equipment that operate frequently less than 300 MHz (eg, portable trunked TRX).
In this scenario, those interested in the approval (initial or maintenance) of these products have not been able to carry out the conformity assessment tests in view of the new requirements. This letter postpones the Act nº 1630 until March 31st 2022.
