On May 31st, 2019, ANATEL issued the minimum requirements and test procedures for Lithium batteries that are used in cellular mobile phones to obtain Certification of Conformity. Between the different tests to be performed are the following:
- Electrical tests, its necessary 15 samples, under technical standards IEC 61960-3:2017 to test:
- Discharge performance
- Charge retention and recovery
- Charge recovery after long term storage
- Endurance in cycles
- Battery internal resistance
- Electrostatic discharge
- Security test, 19 samples, under technical standard IEC 62133-1:2017 to test:
- Temperature cycling
- Continuous charging at a constant voltage
- Case stress at high ambient temperature
- External short circuit
- Freefall
- Thermal abuse
- Over-charging of battery
This regulation will come into force starting November 11th, 2019.
