BRAZIL: ANATEL Operation Removes 10,000 Devices Without Certificates from Market

Back

The Brazilian Agency of Telecommunications of Brazil (Anatel) executed a major inspection in 7 states on May 22nd with a target on telecommunication equipment distributors who are operating within illegal commercialization. More than 10,200 sealed devices in less than a day could be destroyed as a result of one of the many operations to stop illegal commercialization. Devices such as transmitters, receptors, antennas, and phones compose of the list, and as a consequence, the agency will start administrative procedures to manufacturers, distributors, providers, and importers—with a goal to heavily fine those who take part in such acts.

As of now, La Receita Federal is monitoring telecommunication imported devices in ports and airports.
