On October 17th, the board of directors of ANATEL held a meeting to discuss the key items of their regulatory agenda which includes changes on the Res. 242 which is the legal source on the certification and approval of telecommunication products.
These changes have been under public discussion and evaluation since the end of 2015, with the contribution of all the key stake holders, including CBs, Laboratories, Industry associations, operators, carriers, manufacturers, etc.
During the past two months, there have been several drafts and changes on the proposal resolution (August 2nd, October 4th were the last available drafts) but the final version still contained several changes compared to the previous texts.
These changes definitely have a huge impact on the certification processes in Brazil since they involve everything related to the ANATEL certification: fees, cert validity, renewals, product categories, certification schemes and the roles of the CBs and labs.
The definitive version of the new resolution is still to be published (expected to be within next few days) and this way Entirety will continue studying the details of the changes and the regulatory impact. Please expect follow-up emails from us on this regard.
