In the month of July, ANATEL published ACT No 9281 with the intent to establish minimum technical requirements for conformity assessment, with the National Telecommunications Agency, of equipment, classified as Smart TV Box.
According to ANATEL, TV Box devices are characterized as terminal equipment intended to access audiovisual content via the Internet and display it on another device with a screen.
This classification does not include personal computers, televisions, cell phones, tablets, and pay-TV equipment.
These devices shall comply with the following test requirements:
- Act No. 14448 of December 4, 2017 (RF)
- Act No. 950, of February 08, 2018 (Electrical safety)
- Act No. 1120, of February 19, 2018. (EMC)
- Act No. 77, of January 5, 2021 (Cyber security)
As well as the items described in items 5.1 and 5.2 to ensure no content piracy can be exploited using the devices under certification.
The Act enters into force on the date of its publication in Anatel’s Electronic Service Bulletin, and the application of its annex is mandatory as of September 11, 2023.
