Bhutan: BICMA notifies shutting down 3G Base Stations in BTL Network

The Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (BICMA) announces that Bhutan Telecom Limited (BTL) is currently in the process of shutting down its 3G base stations within its network, aligning with the evolution of cellular mobile technology.

The process of phasing our 3G technologies has a direct impact on the manufacturing process of several devices that have an active use of 3G. As part of this progressive transition, it is expected incoming spectrum allocation and regulation updates in Bhutan by BICMA towards more efficient mobile technologies like 4G, 5G, and 6G
