BENIN: Reminder, Mandatory Homologation of Terminal Equipment Intended to be Connected to an Electronic Communication Network

On October 20th of 2021, the ARCEP of Benin reminded the public of the requirement to approve it, terminal equipment intended to be connected to an electronic communication network. This provision is not that new, the Law No. 2017-20 of April 20, 2018, on the digital code in the Republic of Benin, mentions in articles 212 and 213 the mandatory approval of terminal equipment and also remarks that no radio device used for the transmission, reception or transmission and reception of signals and correspondence shall be manufactured, imported, or marketed for use in the Republic of Benin if it has not been approved by the Regulatory Authorities.

This reminder is addressed to all individuals and companies that have not approved terminals that are currently in the market. Such individuals have until December 31 of 2021 at the latest, to proceed with the homologation, otherwise, they will be fined according to the provisions of article 262 of the digital code.
