On August 2016, after years of deliberations and different proposals, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) finally published the last version of the decision paper that contains all the Long-Term plans for the 803-960 MHz band. It is important to note that due to spectrum licenses issues, the 850 MHz band (825-845 / 870-890 MHz) is excluded of the plan. This plan is set in place in order to update the 803-960 MHz band, which is currently being unused due to outdated technologies and to accomplish the timeline for the review of arrangements for 3G and 4G technologies. The decisions of the plan includes the identification of additional spectrum for mobile broadband; new spectrum to support low power; new frequency arrangements for TLMS, and a general defragmentation of the 800 MHz band in order to improve efficiency. The Australian government has set the year 2017 as the limit for the implementation of the spectrum review recommendations.
