AUSTRALIA: ACMA Open to Comments for its FYSO 2016-2020

Back

On October 5, 2016, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) published on its website the Five-Year Spectrum Outlook (FYSO) 2016-2020 document asking all the interested parties to send comments until January 20, 2017. Interested parties could find in the FYSO the way ACMA is directing its resources and which are the spectrum projects with priority. The document is divided in four parts according to ACMA’s official information:

– ACMA’s high-level approach to decision-making, how evidence is used to identify priorities and develop work programs, and information on external pressures that affect spectrum management.

– ACMA’s 12 month work plan.

– ACMA’s mobile broadband strategy update, which is included in the FYSO for the first time. The update outlines each of the projects that fall under the program, with details such as the project phase, work undertaken and next steps.

– ACMA’s spectrum management work programs are expected to commence, or continue to progress, during 2017-20. It represents the ACMA’s preliminary thinking on priorities and provides an early opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback on the ACMA’s proposed planning framework.

ENTIRETY will continue to inform once ACMA receive and analyze interested parties comments.
