AUSTRALIA: ACMA Changes Licensing Requirements for 400 MHz Band

Back

On November 3, 2016, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) published on its website that from now on all DGPS equipment operating this band must be authorized by a relevant radio communication license. ACMA is continuously reviewing its spectrum policies to allow the implementation of new technologies, reduce communication channels congestion, and grant spectrum access to governmental bodies.

Interested parties that wish to apply for this license must choose where they will deploy their systems (wide areas or fixed specific locations) and fulfill new frequency, bandwidth and power requirements. The document contains a guide to identify how to select operation areas and determine which channels are allocated for this purpose, including power limits,  licensing and penalty fees for unlicensed devices.

ENTIRETY will continue to inform any changes ACMA publishes regarding this band.
