Back

On March 28, 2018, the Secretariat of Trade of Argentina, issued the resolution SC N° 169/2018 to introduce new amendments to the regime governing the mandatory certification of compliance for low-voltage electrical products in Argentina.
This resolution has as main objective to ensure that all electrical equipment commercialized in Argentina meets the requirements to provide a high level of protection of health and safety, and applies to electrical equipment, sources, chargers, and transformers to be used with a nominal input voltage, for consumer material and/or of output between 50V and 1000 V in alternating current, and between 75V and 1500V in direct current.
Among the main changes introduced, there will be a modification in the product safety certification system in which from January 1, 2020, there will be required a safety certificate issued by an authorized certification body to ensure compliance with the essential safety requirements of electrical equipment. In addition, it will be possible to have safety family certificate for products with same technical characteristics as established in the article N° 8 part b.
Lastly, System No. 4 (type certification) and System No. 5 (conformity mark) of the Resolution No. 197/2004 could be used until December 31, 2019.
