On June 16, 2017, Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM) of Argentina announced a new resolution for low power devices. Resolution 5186-E/2017 establishes two key points:
1. New frequency bands and limits allocated to low power devices
2. Important new UWB Bands:
– 3.1 – 10.6 GHz for hand-held UWB systems
– 22 – 26.65 GHz for UWB automotive radar
Regarding the above UWB bands, “following the implementation of the aforementioned resolution, submissions were received requesting the allocation of the band 3.1 to 10.6 GHz to be used by Low Power Devices that use Ultra Wideband (UWB) Technology.” Additionally, there were also requests received “for the allocation of the band 22 – 26.65 GHz for vehicle radars using UWB technology. The current range of 24.25 to 25.8 GHz is attributed to Low Power Devices, with secondary category.”
On UWB Technology: “UWB technology is an energy efficient and robust communication solution in short range devices.”
