On April 6, 2017, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology of Indonesia (MCIT) released Regulation No. 23 Year 2016 under Article 2.9.2 5.6.2. The regulation explains the certification process of cellular telephones and handheld computers and tablets. It includes laboratory testing and document evaluation.
The objective of the certification is:
1) to prevent deceitful practices
2) to establish consumer protection
3) to accelerate public service on the certification process of the products covered.
