INDIA: MEITY Approves Indian Language Requirement for Mobile Phones

On October 24, 2016, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) published on the official gazette, the schedule for the “Electronics and information Technology Goods Order, 2012”, which enforces the mandatory use of Indian language as a requirement for compulsory registration.

This new requirement is supported by the Indian Standard IS16333 part-3 issued by the Bureau of Indian Standards “BIS” and will be implemented on July 1, 2017
