Wireless Frequency Updates Impact Charging & WLAN Devices

Vietnam’s latest wireless frequency updates bring significant technical revisions for manufacturers of wireless charging and WLAN/RLAN equipment. The expanded frequency ranges and adjusted emission thresholds aim to improve alignment with international standards while ensuring device compatibility in Vietnam.

Revised Frequency Bands for Wireless Charging

The permitted frequency range for wireless charging devices is now set to 315 – 400 kHz, replacing the previously allowed bands of 326.5 kHz, 340 kHz, and 353 – 373.5 kHz. Additionally, these devices must comply with a main emission limit of ≤ -15 dBμA/m (measured at 10 meters with a 10 kHz bandwidth). Spurious emissions must follow Spurious Emission Limit 1 as specified in Annex 2.

This update supports better performance and reduced interference across various wireless applications. Manufacturers should update their internal test protocols and ensure certification reflects these revised conditions.

New Frequency Allocation for WLAN Devices (5925 – 6425 MHz)

Vietnam has officially added the 5925 – 6425 MHz band for WLAN/RLAN devices. This band enables wider bandwidth, supporting faster and more reliable wireless connectivity. The main emission requirements must adhere to the parameters defined in Annex 10, while unwanted emissions are to be managed under Unwanted Emission Limit 3 (Annex 2).

This change aligns Vietnam’s spectrum policy with global developments in Wi-Fi 6E, a move likely to enhance the country’s technological competitiveness.

Why These Wireless Frequency Updates Matter

These changes offer broader access to critical frequency bands, while also tightening emission rules to safeguard spectrum integrity. As a result, businesses targeting the Vietnamese market should proactively assess the impact on their product lines, particularly regarding device approvals and technical compliance.
