Malaysia: MCMC Announces Transition to 5G Dual Network Model & Revocation of Direction No. 3 of 2021

On December 31st, 2024, MCMC released the Ministerial direction on 5G network implementation and revocation of the ministerial direction on the deployment of 5G infrastructure and network, Direction No 3. of 2021. 

The Government of Malaysia has decided for the 5G single wholesale network model to be enhanced and transitioned into the 5G dual network model. 

Pursuant to the Ministerial Direction on the second carriers, of the 700MHz and 3.5GHz frequency bands, Direction No. 1 of 2024, the commission has completed the evaluation of potential deployment plans for the implementation of the 5G Dual Network. 

Considering the previous direction, the Ministerial Direction on the Deployment of 5G Infrastructure and Network, Direction No. 3 of 2021 is revoked.
