During the 44th meeting of the Permanent Consultative Committee II (CCP.II) of the Inter-American Telecommunications Commission (CITEL), an important document was approved that establishes technical and operational guidelines for the use of Wireless Access Systems, including Wireless Local Area Networks (WAS/RLAN), in the 5,925-7,125 MHz frequency band, known as the 6GHz band. Brazil played a leading role in drawing up and approving this document, which will enable the shared use of the band for WiFi and IMT applications, in line with the decisions of the 2023 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23).
The document defines a guide with technical parameters that can be adopted by administrations wishing to deploy WAS/RLAN access points in both indoor and outdoor environments, allowing the band to be used in full or split.
