To protect the public from possible losses arising from the use of non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment, as well as to ensure connectivity in telecommunications networks, the Directorate General of Postal and Informatics Resources and Equipment of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics has prepared a Draft Decree of the Minister of Communication and Informatics concerning Technical Standards for Non-cellular Low Power Wide Area Network Telecommunications Equipment, which must be fulfilled by every non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment manufactured, assembled, and/or imported, for trading and/or use in the territory of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
Non-cellular low power wide area network telecommunications equipment must be permanently factory locked so that it can only work on radio frequency bands as stipulated in this Ministerial Decree.
Some points to be noted from this new regulations draft are:
- Non-cellular LPWAN equipment must be permanently factory-locked so that it can only work on radio frequency bands as allocated in the technical regulation.
- Some substances that are regulated by this technical regulation draft are:
- power supply requirements;
- non-ionizing radiation requirements;
- electrical safety requirements;
- EMC requirements;
- radio frequency requirements, with allocations:
- 433.05 – 434.79 MHz,
- 920 – 923 MHz, and
- 2400 – 2483.5 MHz_
- filter requirements; And
- test method.
