SINGAPORE: New Spectrum for WiFi 6E and Welcoming of New Devices With This Technology

On May 12th, 2023, The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, published their intent to allocate more radio frequency spectrum to facilitate advanced Wi-Fi connectivity in Singapore, through the allocation of 500 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi use (i.e., 5,925 – 6,425 MHz)

IMDA is committed to meeting the increasing demand for bandwidth-intensive and low-latency use cases and enabling a seamless experience as end-users transition between the different connectivity options in Singapore. 

The Agency expects to amend its Regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore and for Wi-Fi 6E-enabled equipment and devices to be commercially available in Singapore by Q3 2023.
