The Subsecretary of Telecommunications (SUBTEL) has initiated actions in order to enable the 3.5 GHz band for 5G mobile network services in the country.
SUBTEL has consulted the Free Competition Defense Tribunal (TDLC) on the relevance of authorizing the current concessionaires of public wireless telephone service concessions in the 3.400-3.600 MHz band to incorporate mobile data transmission attributes into their networks.
Additionally, SUBTEL wishes to launch new bidding on this same band, planning to deliver 50 MHz of additional spectrum, for which it wishes to consult the TDLC on the specification of the scope of said bidding.
These two actions point to a possible future new frequency allocation for 5G services in Chile.
