FRANCE: ARCEP Opens Public Consultation Draft Decision Setting Conditions For Use of Radio Frequencies by Short-Range Devices

Back

On October 13, 2022, ARCEP opened a public consultation on its Draft Decision to amend Decision No. 2014-1263 dated November 6, 2014. This is to implement the new provisions introduced by European Commission Decision (EU) 2022/180 of February 8, 2022, updating the harmonized technical conditions for the use of radio spectrum for short-range devices on French territory.

The provisions aim to open up frequency bands (9 kHz – 148 kHz, 148 – 5000 kHz, 5000 – 30000kHz, and 30 – 130 MHz) for applications of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology used in materials analysis in confined spaces.

Additionally, ARCEP wishes to ask for comments about the advisability of adding 9880 – 9920 MHz with a power of 50 mW EIRP, 10.57 – 10.61 GHz with a power of 20 mW EIRP, and 10.5 – 10.6 GHz frequency bands for radiodetermination applications.

This public consultation is open until November 24, 2022, at 6 pm. Contributions must be sent to Arcep, preferably by e-mail, specifying the subject “Response to the public consultation: short-range devices” to the following address: bandeslibres@arcep.fr

All interested parties are invited to submit their response in two versions, a confidential version or a public version.
