On October 22nd, the National Congress of Chile released an update on some changes related to the Exenta 1985 for unlicensed bands.
Key highlights include:
-The new output power allowed for the 5150 to 5250 MHz band is 1 W and maximum radiated power density not exceeding 17 mW/MHz
-The 5925 to 7125 MHz frequency band shall be for indoor use only under the following conditions:
– Maximum EIRP: 30 dBm.
– Maximum spectral density: 5 dBm / MHz.
-Low power AP (Access Point) equipment may only have integrated antennas, which may not be removable or replaceable, and may not have connectors to connect additional external antennas. Likewise, they may not operate with internal batteries or have spaces for installation. Additionally, they must comply with the following conditions:
– Maximum PIRE: 24 dBm.
– Maximum spectral density: -1 dBm / MHz.
-The laboratories that perform the tests and prepare the reports (test reports) presented in the certification applications shall have at least an international accreditation.
All these changes were made due to the need to incorporate the new frequency bands used by the family of wireless network protocols marketed under the name Wi-Fi 6 into the technical regulations for unlicensed bands.
