BRAZIL: ANATEL Publishes Consultation on Use of 2300MHz Band for 5G Technology

Back

On August 16, 2018, ANATEL initiated a consultation in regards to the use of the 2300MHz band for 5G mobile services (Public Consultation No. 25) which will have a duration of 30 days starting August 16th. The Authority seeks the stakeholder’s comments regarding possible usage models for this band.

Additionally, the Public Consultation proposes a Private Limited Service (SLP), which is a service for restricted use and is intended for the own performer and provided to a certain group of users–uses the 2.3GHz band along with fixed telephony, mobile telephony, and fixed broadband. Furthermore, SLP allows the use of a frequency for voice communication and restricted data to members for instance of transport, energy, oil or gas companies. Another determination is the need for coordination against interference between companies occupying the range. In case of an impasse, Anatel may intervene.
