UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: Restriction on Hazardous Substances Coming January 2018

The UAE (United Arab Emirates) Cabinet decision published April 27, 2017, on the official gazette to control hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices is set to come into effect starting January 1, 2018.



The 10 hazardous substances the UAE tends to control/or limit presence of include:



1. Lead (Pb)

2. Mercury (Hg)

3. Hexavalent chromium (Vi)

4. Haxavalent chromium (Vi)

5. Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB)

6. Polybrominated biphenyl ethers (PBDE)

7. Bis (2-ethyhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)
8. Butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP)

9. Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

10. Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP)
